Communication Chambers from IDS supplied to Alfred McAlpine at Blunsdon Bypass

IDS working with their partners Burdens at Manchester are pleased to have recently supplied their Mark 2 range of twin walled chambers to Sir Alfred McAlpine at their Blunsdon Bypass project in Swindon. The project involved the laying of several hundred metres of communications ducting, all of which required cable chambers.

The scheme at Blunsdon will provide a dual carriageway bypass at the west end of Blunsdon. The Turnpike Roundabout is to be replaced by traffic signal controlled junctions requiring communication chambers. The two new junctions are situated at Turnpike and Lady Lane and will include a new bridge over the bypass allowing free flowing traffic on the A419. Further signalling required communication chambers to accommodate underground cable for a dedicated pedestrian/cycle way.

Communication Chamber Solution
The specification called for a twin wall cable chamber and IDS Mark 2 proved an ideal solution as a communication chamber. The IDS Mark 2 units provide a stackable chamber solution complete with duct entry ports for 110/63mm diameter duct.

Supply Chain Specialists
As one of Burdens largest customers, Sir Alfred McAlpine benefit from a unique relationship with Burdens key accounts at Manchester. The team at Manchester were able to liaise with a product specialist at IDS and the logistics team at Burdens Swindon to provide a specialist supply chain solution.
